Hi Adrian, Honestly when I installed the new Julia portfolio 2.0 I was very disappointed to see you took away the columns option so now if I have 20 photos they will have to scroll down the page. Could you please bring that back? And I tried the category option but the slimbox is disabled with this and when the image is clicked it goes to a new browser window to load and you have to click the back button and reload the page. And now I have a link to a pet website on my photo gallery http://www.pettalez.com What happened?

Hello,

I am sorry if the new version dissapoints you, it's not meant to do that :). The new version contains a longtime expected feature, the categories. If you have a portfolio, it will probably be divided into multiple services, so categories prove quite useful. If, on the other hand, you have a small portfolio, you can link directly from a menu to individual items. The new version has also improved SEO features, which you will see that are very important, if you want your clients to find you. The category structure helps with that, because it creates more keyword-rich pages.

The scrolling isn't such a big thing, as pagination was introduced. The slimbox is still kept for individual items in a category. As for the small link, this is an open-source project, please feel free to remove it from the code. If you need assistance with that, please let me know, although a small link on the bottom doesn't hurt anyone and it does me a huge favor. All the big components that are free in the Joomla extensions directory have some sort of a way to promote themselves.

If you would like the old version, which doesn't have all the SEO features, I can send that to you also.

Thank you for using JuliaPortfolio

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for your comments here. One thing I wish it could have is the columns though. It's nice to have a row of 4 or 5 and then going down from there. I see it is set up so the user can choose how many they want to display on the page from a drop down. Is there a way I can set it to 10 and if they want more they can use the drop down?

I would love to see the option to have a next page. So if I could set how many pictures per page and I had 50 pictures it would show a next button and 12345 at the bottom to click on.

I think you should take this component and kick it up a notch and charge people for it.

I will leave the link at the bottom since it helps you out.

WOW!

Adrian I just found out something. I have now 20 photos and I found out that if I chose from the drop down list to show 5 photos then your ap show me there is 3 pages and also has now the option to click next. This is what I wanted! So now I just need to be able to have the default setting to be 5 on the drop down. Can you tell me how to do that please.

Thanks

- Stephen

Hello,

This is a setting for individual users, it's Joomla related, it is called Default List Length, so users can decide how many items they want per page. You can set it for all users in the global configuration panel.

Thanks for using JuliaPortfolio. If you like it, then please review it in the Joomla extensions directory.
